Nordiska Kompaniet was created by merger in 1902 in Stockholm and still occupies the building designed for it by Ferdinand Boberg in 1915. NK set out to be the premier department store for luxury goods and interiors in Sweden to rival stores in London and Paris and specialised in luxury furniture in the 1930s producing many designs by Axel Einar Hjorth. It later developed a more popular modern range of ‘knock-down’ furniture, Triva created by Lena Larsson, Elias Svedberg and Erik Worts.
