The resulting design of the IJhorst tables were a forerunner to Nieuwenhuys&#8217;s later large-scale New Babylon architectural project. Constant was able to apply his new abstract visual language in practice as a series of architectonic furniture. The base of the table is formed by an elegant construction of thin wire steel typical of the 50s zeitgeist.
