Vintage Design
The “Sawbuck chair” was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1952 named after and inspired by the sawbucks you could find in Wegner´s and other cabinetmakers workshops at the time and were manufactored by Carl Hansen & Søn.
This set of chairs have been fully restored by our cabinetmaker, frames sanded and ebonized and seats replaced with new Sawbuck seats in natural soft leather from Carl Hansen & Søn.
The ebonizing technique is a process where the color is created within the wood itself by use of only natural ingredients. The process is work intensive but create a deep black colored waxed surface with the wood patterns and structures fully intact resulting in a unique surface compared to the traditional layer of black varnish on top of the wood.
